This Cookie Policy explains how Essex County Newark Probate Preservation ("ECNPP", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on https://ecnpp.org. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information generally, including your rights under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act (NJDPA).
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store on your device. It can later be read back so the site remembers something about you — for example, that you've already chosen your privacy preferences. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixels. We treat all of them the same way for the purposes of this policy.
How we categorize them
We group cookies into three categories. Only "Strictly necessary" cookies are set without your permission. The other two categories are off by default and only activate if you opt in.
1. Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work — for example, to remember your cookie preferences or to keep an admin user signed in. They cannot be switched off.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ecnpp:consent:v2 | ecnpp.org (this site) | Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again on every visit. | 12 months (localStorage) |
| sb-* (auth tokens) | Supabase (Lovable Cloud) | Set only on the admin area when staff log in. Maintains an authenticated session. | Session / up to 7 days |
2. Functional (opt-in)
These improve your experience but are not essential — for example, remembering your language. They are off by default.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ecnpp:lang | ecnpp.org (this site) | Remembers whether you prefer the English or Spanish version of the site. | 12 months (localStorage) |
3. Analytics (opt-in)
We use limited, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages help families most. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, we do not sell your data, and we do not profile you across other sites.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| app:analytics events | ecnpp.org (this site) | Aggregated, privacy-respecting page and CTA event counts so we know which guides are most useful. No ad targeting, no cross-site tracking. | Session only — no cookie set unless you opt in |
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a recognized opt-out preference under the NJDPA. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we automatically treat it as a request to reject non-essential cookies — no banner needed.
Do Not Sell or Share / opt-outs
ECNPP does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is therefore no separate "Do Not Sell or Share" link to operate. To exercise other privacy rights (access, correct, delete, port, appeal), see the Privacy Policy.
Browser-level controls
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings — block them, delete them, or restrict them by site. Doing so may affect parts of any website, including ours. Major browsers publish step-by-step guides:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
